Two Pears and a Lemon, 10" x 10", oil on cradled wood panel

The 'background of this piece was done with a few layers of oil with cold wax medium and it immediately raised the thought every artist dreads...I really liked it and it became "precious"! Painters everywhere know that when something becomes "precious" it is time to paint over it - make changes...but I REALLY liked it...(wah!) So, after days and days of near fretting, I painted over it - sort of. I like how the fruits are transparent in relation to the background, but not in relation to each other.
